Coupon Preview for 8/2/09

I am reading that this Sunday's paper will contain FIVE inserts! Two Smart Source, a Red Plum, a Kellogg's insert, and August's P&G! I will definitely be buying several papers! So grab a couple papers yourself, but make sure you get the largest paper for your region. It's much more likely that you will get better coupons this way, and more of them!

If you want to check out a preview of which coupons are to come, go to www.taylortownpreview.com.

Get ready for a ton of great sales next week at CVS and Rite Aid! I'm very excited to hit Meijer's 10 for 10 sale this weekend too!

Rite Aid Deals Week of 7/26/09

Rite Aid is pretty slow this week, but next week has tons of FAR items! So hold on, and next week I'm sure we can get paid to shop! Here's what I see this week at Rite Aid.

Clairol Herbal Essences Shampoo, Conditioner, or Stylers 2/6.00
2.00 SCR WYB 2
Use B1 Shampoo or Conditioner, get 1 Styler free
Use 1.00 coupon from the 7/5 P&G insert.

Be sure to request your July rebate checks, because Sunday started the August rebate period! Get your check so you can roll it into August SCR offers. I promise they will get better! The other Rite Aid tip I have is--don't shop without a /25 coupon! I found one at coupons.com, and there are several others available online, some which don't expire until December! Obviously this week it's not necessary, bur next week it is! Can't wait!

Hello??? Is Anyone Still There?

I am very sheepishly and ashamedly returning to this blog after about a six week absence! Life has been so crazy busy, and I have not had much time to do anything! Especially blog! I apologize profusely, and hope to return to blogging a couple times per week. I hope that you have found other great blogs to read while I have been on the QT. Here are a few of my favorites.

I have been couponing and finding some good deals once in a while this last month. I had not shopped at Rite Aid at all in July until yesterday! And yesterday was the last day in the July rebate period! How sad! I have been shopping more at CVS, and Kroger while I am at the lake! CVS has a great monthly special for July. When you buy a Bayer Glucose Meter for 19.99 you will receive 5 ECB. If you don't know what ECB's are, follow one of the above links for a CVS tutorial. I have multiple coupons for these meters that will take off up to 30.00, so the meter itself ended up being free! I then received the 5 ECB's, for a total of 20.00 in ECB's without spending a dime! (The limit on the meter special was 4.) I have been rolling those ECB's on school supplies, which have been free after ECB's every Sunday through Tuesday. It is my goal to not spend any money on school supplies this year!

One deal that I did yesterday at the Kroger in Angola, IN was for Kleenex. Kleenex are on sale for 0.99 WYB 10 mega event items. I purchased 2 boxes of Anti-viral Kleenex and used a 0.50/2 coupon which tripled. So I paid 0.25 per box. I used this coupon several times and ended up buying about 12 boxes of tissues. Imagine my surprise when I received a catalina for 1.00 off my next shopping order courtesy of Kleenex. Not one, but 3 of them. Had I only bought the Anti-viral tissues they would have all been free after coupons and catalinas! I had bought regular Kleenex as well, for school, as the kids usually need to take several boxes!

I did great yesterday at Rite Aid too, getting tons of stuff for about 2.18 out of pocket. The value of the items that I purchased was 56.00, with most of them being on sale and having a partial rebate attached to them. I paid 35.93 OOP and will receive 33.75 in SCR. I rolled my May and June rebate checks to pay for today's purchases!

On a non couponing note, my kids have had a busy baseball and softball seasons, and we spent a week at the lake with really yucky weather! We had a great 4th of July, welcoming our new nephew/cousin Grayson Michael. Our niece/cousin Emersyn is due to arrive any day now! I have been trying to help my sisters out with their existing children while they grow and deliver these new children! It has been such a blessing, and I can't wait to watch these kids grow up together!

So there's a little highlight of what I've been doing. I am going to try hard to blog as much as I can, although when my classes resume in August I fear they will occupy most of my free time. I hope I am wrong though! Hope everyone else has had a great summer too!

Coupon Preview for 6/14/09

If you need or want a sneak peek at this weekend's coupons, check out www.taylortownpreview.com for more information. There is only one Smart Source insert scheduled, but it is supposed to be a decent sized insert.

Chief Super Doubles This Week!

Chief has super double coupons this week, starting today and going through next Wednesday. General Mills cereal is on sale 3/4.00, which is a great price! One up it and combine that sale with a 1.00/3 coupon for 0.66 per box!

Kellogg's is also on sale 3/8.00. Doesn't sound the greatest, but use 3 1.00 Kellogg's coupons to bring the price down again to 0.66 per box!

Eckrich Hot Dogs are 2/3.00. Use 1.00/2 coupon for hot dogs that are 0.50 per pack!

This is also a great time to stock up on some taco seasoning. Usually Ortega seasoning packets are about 1.19 each. Use a 0.75/2 coupon for some cheap seasoning! About 0.44 each!

One other item I will check out is Colgate. The ad says selected varieties are 10/10. Possibly the variety that we have coupons for? Chief won't give overage, but at least it would be free toothpaste. Because we all know you can never have enough!

Please let me know if you find great coupon matchups, as I won't have much time this weekend to check out all of the great deals.

Cheap Kellogg's at Chief

Last week I noticed the cereal sale at Chief that started on Thursday. All of my printable Kellogg's coupons expired on Wednesday. :( In today's paper there are new Kellogg's 1.00 off coupons! This cereal sale goes through Wednesday, so there's plenty of time to get some cheap cereal and free milk!

The cereals on sale are Froot Loops, Corn Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks, and Corn Pops 12.2 oz or larger. The price is 4/8.00 and with the in ad coupon you get a free gallon of milk! To sweeten this great deal use 4 Kellogg's coupons from today's Red Plum. You will have needed to get four papers, or get additional inserts from friends or family. There is no coupon for the cornflakes. If you have four coupons, you can get four boxes of cereal and a gallon of milk for four bucks!

I also have a 0.50 coupon for New York Croutons which are on sale 10/10.

To Whom it May Concern: Don't Take Your Famly Shopping With You!

Last night the fam and I decided to go out to dinner, because we were both too lazy to cook. Let me set the stage... I was exhausted, from staying up too late and working too hard during the day (well, kind of...). I didn't really want to go, but the alternative meant scrounging up a dinner for four with a very limited food selection. Around 7:30 we headed into town to go to Ruby Tuesday's. I forgot my coupon bag, and I didn't want to ask the hubby to turn around so I could grab it. I thought I would be ok since I just needed produce. We go to Ruby Tuesday's often during the summer months, and for a bonus, I had printed a BOGO meal coupon. So we ate, racking up a bill of 50.00 for mediocre food, even with the coupon. With a gut ache and an empty wallet, off we go to Meijer.

Since I started couponing in August, I have RARELY taken my kids shopping with me, and I have NEVER taken my husband. After last night, I remember why.

Last weekend my husband asked me, "Can you just get groceries like you used to?" The translation means, can you get junk food and not worry about the prices? I laughed at him and honestly told him I didn't think I could! I gave it my best shot and came home with 2 boxes of Little Debbie Strawberry Rolls and 2 bags of chips! I was pretty happy, and no one really complained.

Fast forward to last night. I guess I didn't satisfy the sweet tooth, because our cart looked like, well, just look at the picture. I had both kids and the husband, who have all been deprived of sweets and junk for some time now. The reason I wanted to go was to get fruit and veggies, but the produce looked awful. I wouldn't have taken any of it home, even if I didn't have to pay anything for it! So on we go, without anything green or grown from a tree.

At first I thought shopping might just be ok. The husband was comparing prices of name brand graham crackers vs. Meijer brand. After he realized what he was doing he looked at me and said "I can't believe you have me comparing prices!"

Then we came to the Little Debbie and doughnut section. Game over. Finished. Bye bye. Nutter Butters, Hostess doughnuts, Strawberry Rolls, and so many etc.'s it's not funny. 5.00 boxes of cereal! Easy Cheese? Not one bottle but two! Why? Because they were 2/6.00! Not 1/3.00? Pain!?*#!! Agony!($&#%@ Despair@*#&@)!! I tried acting out my best impersonation of a choking victim. That didn't work, and my cart was still full of overpriced junk food. So then I showed them my best panic attack show. After several panic attacks, I gave up and decided that this would be the last time for another nine months before they get to go with me again! I do have to say that the Nutter Butters are very tasty, and Hostess crumb doughnuts are very good as well.

My wonderful, adorable, lovely family cost me 75.00 last night. 75.00 on junk food and a fairly unnecessary shower head. 10 pounds of Russet potatoes was the only healthy and low cost purchase of the evening. It hurts. Still hurts today. And probably will tomorrow. Watching my adorable son happily and eagerly eat a big bowl of Cookie Crisp this morning didn't even help. I bet a few of you know what I mean.

Ouch. Nuf said.

Home Made Simple Booklet

Follow this link to sign up for a Home Made Simple Booklet with over 30.00 in coupons. I have gotten these before, and they are great! The booklet includes coupons for Dawn, Febreeze, Cascade, Swiffer, etc! There's usually a coupon for a free Cascade Rinse for the dishwasher. My last one arrived with only the outside page! Not even a coupon I would use! I was so mad! Hopefully this time I'll have better luck.

CVS Memorial Day Sale!!!

On my way home from the lake, I stopped into CVS for their two day sale. I only had 4 ECB's going in, so I knew I would have to do multiple transactions. I searched the store high and low for the Neutrogena 1 oz sunscreen that would have given me a 6.00 profit, but I could not find any! :( Onward, and upward...

My best find of the day was a clearance cart of overstocked baby stuff for 75% off! I have TWO pregnant sisters, both due this summer. The one clearance cart had 25 oz Enfamil canisters for 6.50! The same type one of my sister's used with her first baby. I rang up most of the baby purchases separately, as I couldn't possibly use my ECB's on something that wouldn't roll!

Here's the baby stuff.

3 Enfamil Lipil 19.50
1 Enfamil Gentlease 7.10
2 A&D Zinc Ointments 3.30
2 2 pks Playskool Sippy Cups (for Aunt Lindsey's house) 3.80

Total 34.20! The cost of one can of formula at Walmart is around 27.00!

Here's my multiple transactions! The cashier was great, but my only complaint is she wouldn't let me use coupons with clearance items. I'd never heard of this before, and I could have gotten some other great deals from the clearance bins!

Transaction #1
Colgate Total 4 oz 2.99
Playtex 18 ct tampons 3.99

Coupons:
1.00 Colgate
1.00 Playtex
4.00 ECB

Total OOP: 1.19

#2
Aveeno Baby Lotion 1.90

Coupons:
5 ECB
I had an Aveeno coupon, but she would not let me use it due to the clearance price.

Total OOP: 0.96
Earned 3.99 ECB

#3
Clearasil Face Wash 3.99

Coupon:
3.99 ECB

Total OOP: 0.00
Earned 3.99 ECB

Total OOP: 0.00
Earned 3.99 ECB

#5
Revlon Nail Color 3.99

The total value of this stuff was 24.84. I paid 2.15 OOP and used 1 ECB! Happy Day!

Kellogg's Cereal at Chief

Hopefully everyone printed Kellogg's coupons a couple weeks ago when they came out on www.coupons.com! If you did, this is the week to use them! Kellogg's cereal is on sale for 1.66 per box. The coupons are valued at 1.00 each, so that means you are paying 0.66-0.67 per box!

Other coupon match ups that I see include:

Aunt Millie's Bread Select Varieties 3/5.00
Use 0.35 Aunt Millie's
Final Cost: 0.96

Oscar Mayer Franks 16 oz 2/3.00
1.00 off 2 OM
Final Cost: 1.00 each (hopefully all beef franks are included in this sale!)

I Heart Rite Aid!

So many people think that drug stores are too expensive to shop at. I agree, but if you shop drug store "sales" or drug store "rebates" and combine them with coupons, those expensive prices soon go out the window, and discount stores look expensive!

Here's what I did at Rite Aid on Tuesday!

Purchased:
got2b hair lotion 6.99 (picked up one that wasn't on sale)
Playtex Tampons 5.29
Charles Worthington Shampoo 5.99
Schick Razor 11.49 BOGO (got refills too)
Total: 29.76

Coupons:
2.00 got2b
Schick BOGO (-11.49)
5/25
Total OOP: 13.20 with tax

Will receive SCR for:
4.99 got2b
4.00 Charles Worthington
2.00 Schick

Final Cost: 2.21 (My tax for this purchase was 1.93!)

Had I paid closer attention and gotten the correct got2b product, this would have been a profitable trip! I can't complain though. Thanks Rite Aid!

My 39 Cent Rite Aid Trip 4/28/09

I went to Rite Aid tonight to finish fixing my prescription fiasco that I started last week. Way too long of a story to write about! I usually wait until the end of the week to do my Rite Aid shopping, but I wanted to be sure to use the 5/25 coupon before it expires on Thursday. I haven't seen or heard of another one coming out, but I will be watching. So here's what I did tonight for 0.39!

Here's what I bought:

Electrasol 20 ct 4.49
Tampax Pearl 40 ct 8.49 (to get my total above 25.00)
Skintimate Cream 6 oz 2.99
SaltAire 6.99
Mini Drop 30 ct 6.49

Total 29.45

Coupons used:
5/25.00 ***Give this first***
2.50 Electrasol
1.00 Tampax
0.75 Skintimate
1.00 SaltAire
1.00 Mini Drop

Total OOP 20.11

Will receive SCR for:
2.00 Electrasol
2.00 Tampax
2.24 Skintimate
6.99 SaltAire
6.49 Mini Drop

Which brings my final total to... 0.39!!! I paid for the 20.11 with my Rite Aid gift card which was purchased with prior SCR checks.

One tip I have is to try to make your filler items something useful if at all possible. I needed almost a 5.00 filler to hit 25.00, so I chose the Tampax for 8.49. It is definitely useful, and I noticed it had a rebate attached. I could have chosen something lower in price to make my trip profitable, but the tampons won out. Of course, if your filler only needs to be 1.00 or so, throw a pack of gum up, or a candy bar. Those are both quite useful too!

I'm Still Here!

I wanted to let you all know that I am still here, just very busy! I am finishing up my last paper for the semester today, so watch out! Next week I will have plenty of posts for you. Rite Aid looks good this week, so I will see what money making scenarios I can come up with!

April 30th is coming up this week, and tons of my coupons are expiring. I have been trying to pay attention to the good coupons that are expiring, so I don't miss out. I just stopped at Kroger, and used 5 2.00 Marcal Toilet Paper coupons on 5 6 roll packs of toilet paper that were on sale for 2.50 each. That's 30 rolls of toilet paper for 2.50 (the cost of six rolls)! I can handle that!

I also used my 1.50 off Kraft Salad Dressing coupons at Walmart. These are expiring 4-29-09. I know I said I don't shop there much, but somethings you just can't get at CVS. Like basketball nets and laundry baskets! Anyway, the price of the salad dressings are on roll back for 1.58. I used 5 coupons and got each dressing for 0.08!

So, stay tuned, I promise I will come up with more info for you soon!

More Super Doubles at Chief!

Now I'm healthy and ready to go! Remember, during super double week coupons up to and including 1.00 will be doubled! I am going to try to update this post with great coupons to use this week! Stay tuned! Let me know if you find any great ones!

BTW, not much great going on at Rite Aid this week. I'm turning my attention to CVS and Walgreen's.

The End is Coming...

For anyone who shops at Walgreen's, I am reading rumors that they are doing away with their monthly program and the Easy Saver Catalog. Although I have a love/hate relationship with Walgreen's, I am sad to see this program go.

Just because I was curious, I added up my rebate earnings since I started shopping there in September. My total rebate earnings with the monthly program has been 196.80 to date. 17.91 of this rebate money is a 10% bonus given when you request your payment via a Walgreen's gift card. This total doesn't include Register Reward earnings or the weekly flier coupons that I use.

I hate to see this go, but I am hopeful Walgreen's will come up with something to replace the Easy Saver Catalog. I guess I'll wait and see...

Rite Aid Deals Week of 3/29/09

OH NO! Expiring Register Rewards!

Today I had a 10.00 RR expiring, and another expiring in a couple days. I ran to Bryan quick after plotting out my sinister plan. Hehehehe... I stopped at CVS for Diet Pepsi, and then to Walgreen's to spend my RR.

At CVS I used more ECB's(Extra Care Bucks) than I got back, but that's OK. I got some good sale items anyway.

I bought:
2 Post Trail Mix Cereal B1G1 4.79
Crest Pro Health Enamel 3.49
2 Skippy Peanut Butter B1G1 3.29
3 Diet Pepsi 12 pks 3/11.00

Coupons used:
2 2.00 Post Trail Mix Printable
1.00 Crest expiring 3-31 from P&G
2 0.40 Skippy
B2G1 Diet Pepsi Printable
12.97 ECB's

Total OOP 0.24 on my Gift Card!

ECB's Earned:
3.49 Crest
2.00 Pepsi

Walgreen's was actually fun! I used my expiring Huggie's RR to buy a lot of items that have a monthly rebate attached to them. There is a lot of "couponing" going on here so I will try my best to explain.

I bought:
2 Scrubbing Bubbles Natural Cleaner 2/6.00
Pledge and Multi Surface Pledge 2/7.00
Tums Dual Action 7.99
Right Guard Professional Deodorant 5.99
Walgreen's Headache Relief 2.99
2 Sambucol 12.99 each
3 bags of Easter candy 6.50 total

Coupons used:
2 1.00 Natural Cleaner
3.00 Pledge Aerosol Printable
2.00 Multi Surface Printable
3.00 Tums Printable
2 4.00 Sambucol Printable
1.50 off 3 Hershey's Easter Candy
10.00 Walgreen's coupon in the monthly booklet (took off 20.00)
1.50 Walgreen's Hershey's coupon in the monthly booklet (took off 0.50 per bag)

Will submit for Easy Saver Rebate (Monthly program)
2 1.00 Natural Cleaner
2 1.00 Pledge Products
5.00 Right Guard
2.99 Walgreen's Headache Relief

Register Rewards
Earned 3.00 for the Tums

I'll try to summarize it here. My subtotal was 62.45. After coupons at the register I owed 21.45. I then used 20.00 in RR which took my total OOP to 5.37 with tax. Not bad, not bad, but it gets better. Keep in mind I earned 3.00 RR for the Tums, and I will submit for another 11.99 in the monthly program! Including my extra 10% gift card bonus, that's a profit of 10.81 for the night!

Oh, I almost forgot! I also picked up a mail in rebate peelie for Crest Pro Health! I'll probably send that in too for another 3.25! That means I got reimbursed the cost of the toothpaste from CVS plus another 4.25 for the coupon and rebate! Thanks go out to everybody involved!

Workin' Meijer

My Meijer trip seemed time consuming, but I was in and out in an hour and fifteen minutes. This included bathroom breaks, repositioning a seven year old from the end of the cart, into the cart, to under the cart, to the baby seat all the while NEVER missing a beat on his Nintendo DS, checking out three times, three calls on my cell, and a frozen checkout computer. Besides making the little old lady behind me very mad, I thought it turned out ok.

Meijer will only double 2 identical coupons per transaction. I've been burned before, so I set out to work the system! And it worked! I don't buy only junk food, either. Today I bought lettuce, 6 avocados, 3 quarts of strawberries, bananas, grapes, carrots, chunk cheese, sunflower seeds, canned beans, hummus, bread, and really good looking frozen pizzas!

Highlights from transaction #1
Spent 69.15
Saved 81.47!
59.89 of that was Meijer promotions and sales

To put transaction #3 into perspective, the usual cost of one box of fruit snacks is about 3.00. I didn't spend that for 7 items, including two big boxes of cereal! My only concern now is how to consume all of this produce in a week or so! The babies' daddy is out of town all week for work, so we don't even have his help! Well, at least the kids and I will eat very healthy this week!

Quite the motherload, if I do say so myself...

I have not REALLY gotten groceries in...quite a while. My last big grocery bill was 75.00 on -- get this, January 12th!!! I of course have been places to get some groceries, but nothing major. Needless to say, I needed to get food.

Meijer has a great 10/10 sale this week with tons of coupon matchups. If you want more details on this check out www.bargainbriana.com. I will try my best to give you an accurate picture of how I did on my next post, without typing everything out.

First, I went to Kroger while monkey boy was at a football clinic. I only went for the sale items, and I had planned most of this out ahead of time. They have a mega event going, so when you buy 10 participating items 5.00 will be taken off at checkout. Basically, you end up paying 0.50 less than the sale price for each item.

What I bought:
2 Quaker Rice Cakes 0.99 each
8 Land o Lakes Buttery Taste Spread 0.99 each
Q-Tips 2.00
Dannon Light and Fit 6 pack 2.50
2 Kroger 1/2 gallon milks 0.88 each
2 Ritz Crackers 2/5.00
Yo Plus Yogurt 4pk 2.49

Coupons used:
5.00 Mega Event (came off at checkout)
2 1.00 Quaker
8 0.50 Land o Lakes (doubled)
0.30 Q-Tip (doubled)
1.00 Light and Fit
2.00/2 Ritz
1.00 Yo Plus E Coupon

Total OOP 8.16

My receipt said coupon savings was 15.30, bonus coupon savings 4.30, and Plus Card savings 13.17. That's an 80% savings!

I'm not sure how one family can use all of this margarine without inducing a massive coronary, but I will give it my best shot! So, using the coupons along with the sale worked out great today! The 8 tubs of margarine were all free, as were the rice cakes. The yogurt was a good price, and I was completely out. Not to mention the price of the milk!

Huge Huggies Coupons!!!

Check out www.coupons.com for two Huggies coupons. These were up last week, and were reset. There is one for 5.00 off any gentle care diaper product, and one for 3.00 off any natural fit diaper product. I am assuming these can be used on wipes as well, which would result in some BIG packages for free or very cheap. When printing, hit your back browser button three times to print them again. I have found them on the last page of the website when going back for the second print. Print them and have your families print them too! Coupons of this value don't come around often!

Walgreens is having a promotion starting tomorrow March 8th. Through the 15th, Huggies will be on sale for 10.00 a pack. When you by 25.00 worth you will receive 10 Register Rewards (RR) which can be used like cash in the store. Remember though, you can't roll your Huggies RR into another Huggies purchase. Consider using the RR to buy free after rebate items for the month or other RR producing deals.

Try this transaction.
Buy 3 pkgs Huggies at 10.00 each
Use 3 5.00 coupons.
Receive 10 RR to use on future purchases.

30.00 (3 Huggies)
-15.00 (3 coupons)
=15.00 OOP
Receive 10 RR
Like paying 5.00 for three packs!

My other tip is to do this only once per transaction. RR won't print out multiple times for the same deal in the same transaction. Simply check out more than once if you have enough coupons!

Walgreens and CVS

I don't take the time to blog weekly about Walgreens and CVS. Mainly, because I don't have time, and because we don't have them here in town. If you want to shop these stores for their sales, check out a couple of great blogs.

http://www.thethriftymama.com/ and http://www.dealseekingmom.com/ both have weekly sales and deals posted. They also continually update if new deals pop up. They are a great resource for figuring out sales and deals! Some blogs give tutorials on how to work the ECB's and RR's also! Each store is different, and it can get quite confusing (see Walgreens post below!). Use these ladies and their wealth of info!

Walgreens 3/4/09

Walgreens tonight was kind of frustrating, but, in the end, turned out OK. They were out of most of the Register Reward (RR) items that I wanted, and don't get a truck in until Friday. Well, of course, I can't go again this week, but I am sure I will survive.

I couldn't quite figure out how to put this together, and I am sure I could have saved a bit more. I also screwed up my Vaseline deal by buying four bottles of lotion in one transaction. Instead of getting 8.00 in RR, I only got 2. It would have been a BIG moneymaker. I should have split them up into single transactions. Lesson learned: RR will only print for one item, not four. Buy one at a time. By the way, you can't use a RR to turn around and pay for the same item again.

Transaction #1
2 Colgate Total 4 oz. 3.49 each
Colgate MaxFresh 3.29
Gillette Fusion Gamer 10.49 (I thought this was on sale, with better RR. Guess not.)
6 Nabisco Ritz Crackers 2/1.99 (just little fellas, one sleeve each)

Coupons Used:
2.50 Colgate Total in the EasySaver Catalog (takes 2.50 off each tube)
4.00 Gillette Fusion
2-0.75 Colgate
1.50 Colgate
3-2.00 off 2 Ritz

Total OOP: 10.20 with tax
Used GC for 9.30
Paid 0.90 OOP

Earned 4.00 RR for Fusion Razor, 3.50 for Colgate MaxFresh (even though price is only 3.29)

Transaction #2 aka, the big screwup!
4 Vaseline Lotions at 2.69 each
2 Extra Gum 8 pk 2/2.49

Coupons Used:
3-1.50 Vaseline Lotion
0.55 Vaseline Lotion
In ad coupon for Extra
7.50 RR from Transaction #1

Total OOP 1.45

Earned 2.00 RR for Vaseline :( Should have been 8 RR had I thought it out a little better.

After I figured out that I screwed up, I went back to the pharmacy to redeem myself. I wanted to get the diaper coupons in the Pharmacy Savings Plan booklet. I did get a booklet, but without the diaper coupon. Then, I transferred a prescription, and got a 25.00 GC from the pharmacy for the transfer! That made me feel a little better. All in all, not a bad night. 7.35 OOP for 48.84 worth of products and a prescription. Plus, I came home with the 25.00 GC!

CVS 3/4/09

Tonight I went to Bryan while the kids were in church, all by myself...again. I wish I had company to go with me. If anyone ever wants to give it a shot, let me know! I went to Walgreens too, but I will post that separately.

Rite Aid Deals Week of 3/1/09

More freebies at Rite Aid this week. Six, to be exact. If I wasn't such a procrastinator, I would have had these up for you by now. Better late than never, I guess.

I'm not sure if Rite Aid will come out with another 5/25 for this weekend, but I did find a link for another 5/25 here, good anytime through March 13th. Compliments of the NBA. Thanks!

I will probably be picky about what I buy this week; I'm out of GC money right now, and I'm not sure that I would use most of these products. Use your own judgement, and have fun. By the way, go ahead and request your February check if you haven't already. Get it going, so you can use the check to buy more SCR items!

Stockpiling at Rock Bottom Prices

Here's another random for ya...stockpiling. When I first started couponing in August, it seemed toothpaste was my main stockpiling item. My family AND friends made fun of me, saying "Why do you need 10 tubes of toothpaste? Nobody needs that much toothpaste!" My response? "I will use it before it expires, and I didn't pay much of anything for it! And by the way, I have 14 tubes, not 10."

Stockpiling is great, and with a little effort, it won't take long before you see your stockpile grow. The first step is obtaining multiple sets of coupons. This may mean begging off family and friends, and enduring their relentless riddling, or it may mean spending a couple extra dollars on Sunday papers. Either way, you'll survive. Having multiples of a coupon will allow you to buy more than one of that item, obviously. But the trick is knowing when to use the coupons. Typically stores put items on sale about every six weeks. When the item that you have a coupon for is on sale, that's the time to buy!

For example, I had Old El Paso Coupons a while back. The local grocery store had taco shells on sale, and I used my coupons to buy about six boxes for next to nothing. Another stockpiling item from a few weeks ago was Betty Crocker Warm Delights. They were on sale for a great price, and I had tons of coupons for them. Over the course of a week, I bought about 20 or so, for only a couple dollars! The kids and the husband are still eating them!

Just because you have a coupon doesn't mean you should go out and use it. Hang onto it, and wait for the item to go on sale! Then, go hog crazy buying as many as you can, as long as you can use it before it goes bad. If you do overbuy on an item that you can't use, consider donating it to a local food pantry, or give the item to those friends and family members that poke fun at you. I'm voting for the food pantry.

Rite Aid Trip 2/27/09

I made my Rite Aid Trip tonight, and did pretty good. I varied a little from my scenario from the last post because my store was out of the chicken.

Here is what I bought.

Transaction #1
5 Aquafresh Toothpaste 19.95

Coupons used:
5/20 (Always give this first)
5 0.75 Aquafresh

Total OOP
12.50 including tax.

Will submit for 10.00 SCR.
Final Cost: 2.50 for 5 tubes of toothpaste.

Transaction #2
10 SoyJoy Bars 5.00
2 4 pk GE light bulbs 4.00
Garnier Wonder Waves Shampoo 2.99
Zilactin 4.99
M&M's BOGO 3.59

Coupons used:
5/20
3.00 SoyJoy
3.00 in ad GE coupon

Total OOP
10.35

Will submit SCR's for SoyJoy 5.00, Garnier 2.99, Zilactin 4.99. Total of 12.98.

Tonight I spent 22.85 OOP, because I am out of GC money! My SCR's for tonight total 22.98! A little profit, but not bad for over 44.00 worth of stuff! I also picked up a rain check for the chicken. Maybe I can work this into next week's shopping!
